چکیده

Reconstruction in Cone-Beam Tomography can suffer from artifacts due to geometrical misalignments of the source-detector system. They can be avoided by a complete and precise description of the system. We present a high precision method for the geometric calibration for the PIXSCAN, a small animal X-ray CT scanner demonstrator based on hybrid pixel detectors (XPAD2). The specificities of the XPAD2 detectors (dead pixels, tilts and gaps between modules. . . ) made the calibration of the PIXSCAN quite difficult. The method uses a calibration object consisting of a hollow cylinder of polycarbonate on which we positioned four metallic balls. It requires 360 X-ray images (1 ̊ increments). An analytic expression of the 3 image ellipses has been derived. It is used for a least square regression of the 13 alignment parameters after a correction of the internal XPAD2 geometry. Our method is fast and completely automated, achieving a precision of about 30 μm.

Colorimetric Scanner Calibration for Textiles by Neural-Network

In this study, colorimetric calibration of scanner has been done via perceptron neural network with three or four layers by back propagation algorithm for colored polyester fabrics. The results obtained for random training samples are not satisfactory but application of selective training samples for L*a*b* or RGB leads to good results, with better results obtained for the L*a*b* method. On the...

Optimization of Imaging Parameters in Micro-CT Scanner Based On Signal-To-Noise Ratio for the Analysis of Urinary Stone Composition

Introduction: Micro-CT scanner with a resolution of about 5 micrometers is one of the modalities used to create three-dimensional/two-dimensional images of urinary stones. This study aimed to optimize imaging parameters in micro-computed tomography (CT) scanner based on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of urinary stones for the analysis of stone composition. <stro...

Geometric Parameters Estimation and Calibration in Cone-Beam Micro-CT

The quality of Computed Tomography (CT) images crucially depends on the precise knowledge of the scanner geometry. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate and calibrate the misalignments before image acquisition. In this paper, a Two-Piece-Ball (TPB) phantom is used to estimate a set of parameters that describe the geometry of a cone-beam CT system. Only multiple projections of the TPB phantom a...

PET-based geometrical calibration of a pinhole SPECT add-on for an animal PET scanner.

We developed SPECT imaging capability on an animal PET scanner to provide a cost effective option for animal SPECT imaging. The SPECT add-on sub-system was enabled by mechanically integrating a multiple-pinhole collimator in the PET detector ring. This study introduces a method to calibrate the geometrical parameters of the SPECT add-on using the PET imaging capability of the scanner. The propo...
